We got to hear this song live when we saw Blackmore's Night last Fall. My iPod has taken to repeatedly playing it as of late. The past few weeks have been filled with little things and repeated songs and quotes popping up. Perhaps Scott is trying to make me believe what I keep telling myself: The 3rd is just another day. It just happens to be the date of the month I found him. A marker that four months have passed that we've been without him. Perhaps, in the future, I will see it as just another day. Right now it is utter pants, unholy arsebiscuits and it sucks huge dingleberry covered donkey balls.

On that note, I give you...

Olde Village Lanterne

Don't shed a tear for me
I stand alone
This path of destiny
Is all my own
Once in the hands of fate
There is no choice
An echo on the wind
You'll hear my voice...

Some choose to fall behind
Some choose to lead
Some choose a golden path
Laden with greed
But it’s the noble heart
That makes you strong
And in that heart, I'm with you all along...

*The olde village lanterne
Is calling me onward
Leading wherever I roam
The olde village lanterne
A light in the dark
Bringing me closer to home...

So when you think of me
Do so with pride
Honor and bravery
Ruled by my side
And in your memory
I will remain
I will forever be within the flame...

Now at the journey's end
We've traveled far
And all we have to show
Are battle scars
But in the love we shared
We will transcend
And in that love, our journey never ends...

Such a drag to want something sometime
One thing leads to another I know
Was a time wanted you for mine
Nobody knew
You arrived like a day
And passed like a cloud
I made a wish, I said it out loud
Out loud in a crowd
Everybody heard
twas the talk of the town

Its not my place to know what you feel
Id like to know but why should i?
Who were you then, who are you now?
Common labourer by night, by day highbrow
Back in my room I wonder, then i
Sit on the bed, look at the sky
Up in the sky
Clouds rearrange
Like the talk of the town

Maybe tomorrow, maybe someday
Maybe tomorrow, maybe someday
Youve changed your place in this world
Youve changed your place in this world

Oh but its hard to live by the rules
I never could and still never do
The rules and such never bothered you
You call the shots and they follow
I watch you still from a distance then go
Back to my room, you never know
I want you, I want you but now
Whos the talk of the town?

my baby

There are those who do not like dogs or cats or both.
There are those who consider them "dumb animals".

Peanut has not left my side all morning. As I go from room to room making a grocery list, she follows me. I sit down at my desk, she is next to me rubbing my leg and giving me head butts. Now she is sitting on my desk purring loud enough to sound like a Ferrari.
I'm not crying or screaming or showing any outward signs of anything. But Peanut knows her Mommy is very sad today and wants to make her happy.

I think my three cats are wonderful and are smarter than some humans I know.
And I can't believe my baby will be 12 years old this Fall.

Why I am having a gigglefest for one remembering movie quotes Scott & I tossed at each other all the time, I do not know. But I will enjoy the giggles and the respite from tears.

Sometimes the smallest acts mean so much ...

The story begins with me returning to work yesterday from vacation to discover my favorite purple pen had disappeared. The usual suspect were not guilty. It was just gone. :(

Fast forward to this morning. Eric & I are in his office with a client whose also an associate of the Bank. After J signs the paperwork I had for him he looks at the pen in his hand and asks is it his or mine. I laugh and say it's mine, but no worries my favorite pen disappeared yesterday. The three of us get into a silly discussion about our favorite pens and how you need to lock everything up for fear it will disappear overnight.

Later in the afternoon Mike & I were going for our ritual 3:00 coffee and "fresh air". Who comes off the elevator, but J. He smiles and says just who I was looking for and hands me a small package. Inside was a purple Dr Grip Pilot pen, just like I had lost.

Yeah, it's only a pen. But he went out of his way to do something nice for me.
He was my favorite client before. Add to that one of the sweetest people I know.
(Lyrics and Music by Rick Springfield)

My Father's Chair still standing there
All alone since the long night
Now it's three years on and I still feel
He'll come home, we'll be alright

So where's this healing time brings
I was told the pain would ease
But it still hurts like the first night

That night my brother, my mother and I
Were looking up at a distant star
And wishing we could reach that far

And back in the house
And alone for the first time
We told each other we cared
We avoided My Father's Chair

I watch my family, we hold on
We are strong and we'll be alright
The clock continues counting down, all the while
And every child will share the long night

But do the spirits meet again
Why am I still so filled with doubt
Is my soul everlasting

And the far distant future
When I knew you'd be gone
Came too fast and stays too long
Why do they leave the weak of spirit
And take the strong

When the world turns sour
And I get sick from the smell
And I can't find no comfort there
I climb into My Father's Chair

So I can't stay up all night
with you
The kick don't kick like it
used to
And I've made mistakes
Heaven knows
But I'm scared of being alone
So make this bad ride fly
